Wukong: A New Era of Godslaying

They wanted me to become a Buddha, but I dug the grave of divine rule with my own hands. Reborn, Wukong returns to Mount Ling, only to discover that beneath its paradise lies nothing but decay. Gods and Buddhas sit high above the clouds, using the Mandate of Heaven to bind all living beings and treating them as sheep to be harvested for their faith. “Are you going to Mount Ling without heading west?” He sneers. “I’m going there to smash it to pieces!” When Heaven’s harvest begins again, Wukong raises the banner of deicide amid the ruins of Flower-Fruit Mountain. “From this day on, when immortals break the law, they’re guilty of the same crimes as the people!” Jin Chanzi, inwardly heartbroken: What happened to my disciple? Wukong stands with his cudgel at the ready. “Master, your scriptures can’t save the people of this world.” This is a blood-soaked road strewn with thorns. Friends turn away, beliefs clash, and the people hesitate. But he doesn’t care. He doesn’t want to be a new god. He wants to bury the old world. “You’ve lorded it over everyone for far too long. Today, let this old Sun teach you a lesson…” He points the Golden Cudgel at the Hall of Miraculous Mist and grins, as arrogant as ever: “What it means for all beings to be equal, and what it means to be… the Heavenly Dao!”
