This spherical city-state floats in chaos, with ten million survivors trapped within its walls. It clings to survival amid a disorderly torrent of tangled, devouring colors.
Humanity reverently calls those strange colors, endlessly tearing at and consuming one another, “the Painter.” It is Ash City’s protector, and one of humanity’s enemies.
Of course, it does not care whether humanity survives.
It saves you not out of compassion; it destroys you not out of malice.
To this transcendent being, humanity is no more than tiny insects parasitic on the folds of color, stubbornly fighting the chaos, clinging to the delusion that civilization can endure. In its eyes, they are insignificant.
