The Palace Maid Hidden in the Phoenix Palace

The Palace Maid Who Conceals the Phoenix is an ancient court intrigue novel told from a unique perspective. The story centers on a mysterious and ancient duty: that of the Palace Guardian. The protagonist, Yun Yin, is the current Palace Guardian. Hidden in the depths of the palace, she must serve as an utterly impartial observer and judge, deciding which women of the imperial harem are worthy of becoming empress and protecting the dynasty's fortunes. But in the sixteenth year of Yonghe, the young and healthy Empress Lin Qingxuan suddenly dies, upsetting the balance. Emperor Xiao Che shows an extraordinary interest in the Palace Guardian and a strong desire to control her. The factions of the harem stir as they vie for the throne, while an unseen hand manipulates events from behind the scenes. Yun Yin must walk a difficult path between upholding her ancestors' rules of "no interference, no attachment" and fulfilling her duty to uncover the truth and choose a worthy empress. In this game with the realm at stake, she is both the only judge and a possible pawn pursued by all, or the most lethal player on the board.
