The whole world has gone digital. While everyone else fights monsters and levels up in the apocalypse, I’ve become the NPC weapons dealer in the starting village.
As I watch players bash each other over hidden quests and legendary weapons, I quietly close the [GM Backend] inside me.
Quest creation, data modification, NPC creation... I write the rules that govern the entire world.
I guide goddesses, nurture brothers in arms, and use the entire player base as my chess pieces to fight the impending abyss that will destroy the world.
Until one day, the Abyssal Demon God tears open the sky, and players around the globe are crushed.
At the height of their despair, they see the NPC shopkeeper who’s always been content to lie flat slowly walk out of his little store.
“Version update announcement: I’ll be playing the final boss myself.”
My rules are the only rules in this apocalypse.
