A Thousand Layers of Silk Letters

Yuehua, princess of the Shuo Kingdom, bears the burden of a political marriage and a secret mission: poison Han Ting, the Sheng Kingdom's hawkish general, in exchange for ten years of peace along the border. As her bridal sedan enters the palace, she thinks she is the player, unaware that she is the most beautiful piece on the board.

Xiao Yu, the Sheng Kingdom's third prince and her new husband, hides unfathomable suspicion beneath his warm smile. Again and again, he puts the name of Han Ting, her target, before her, enjoying her alarm like a cat playing with a mouse. The palace is as deep as the sea, with traps at every turn. Does the mysterious courtesan Su Qingcheng mean her well or warn her when she gives her calming incense? Does the gentle physician Mo Xuan help her out of a doctor's kindness, or does he have another motive?

At a banquet in the Linde Hall, just as the poison is about to be poured into the wine, a sudden wildfire consumes the entire plan and reveals an even more horrifying truth: this seemingly accidental disaster was a deliberate plot.

Yuehua suddenly realizes that the assassination mission is only the tip of the iceberg. In this shocking game of chess revolving around imperial power, military might, and old grudges, she is both a pawn and possibly the key to breaking the deadlock. When she tries to escape her fate, she discovers that she has developed feelings for the husband who should have been her enemy.

The duties of family and country against personal affection, lies and deception against fleeting moments of sincerity, deadly danger at every turn against the warmth of a lamplit room. A letter of heartfelt words cannot convey the hatred between their nations and families. In the long nights of the palace, who can clasp her hand and walk beside her?

The Silk Letter Cannot Convey It All: Watch a woman of extraordinary beauty find her own path to survival and home amid the whirlpool of political scheming.
