Dream of the Red Chamber Sequel: Blossoms Fall in Silence

Dream of the Red Chamber: The Silent Fall of Flowers is a stunning sequel to Dream of the Red Chamber. Beginning with the Jia family's confiscation, it unfolds as a blood-and-tears chronicle of a great house in ruins. The young masters and ladies who once lived in dazzling luxury are cast into the depths of bitter exile and the brothels of the entertainment quarters. Baoyu loses a finger and his gift for poetry, Daiyu loses her voice and leaves a final poem, and Baochai endures in silence as she struggles to survive. One after another, the noble young women perish beneath the crushing weight of fate. The novel powerfully portrays humanity's struggle, betrayal, and glimmers of light amid power, desire, hunger, and cold, asking whether a trace of warmth and dignity can remain on the vast, barren earth after all the splendor has vanished. It is a tragic song of the end times, about disillusionment and awakening.
