This Chongzhen Has No Honor, and No Morals Either

A political science teacher’s soul transmigrated to the end of the Ming Dynasty, becoming the Chongzhen Emperor, Zhu Youjian, as he headed toward the crooked old tree on Coal Hill.

Faced with natural disasters and man-made calamities, troubles at home and abroad, and the faces of the court’s “loyal ministers,” he laughed.

As a political science teacher who understood the chains of self-interest and the weaknesses of human nature, he saw through every illusion.

You want to guilt-trip him with morality? Play the loyal subject and patriot? Try to buy him off?

Sorry. Someone who has already died once has nothing to fear.

Even more surprisingly, he was bound to the “Imperial Sovereign’s Glory System.” He could grow stronger by becoming a powerful official! Increase his martial prowess, and the imperial treasury would overflow with gold!

Wei Zhongxian? He could stay alive for now, serving as a bagman to handle the dirty work.

From then on, the Ming Dynasty’s style took a sharp turn.

Chongzhen: “I’ll come clean. I’m done pretending! I’m going to be a tyrant! You expect me to play by the rules? To be virtuous? Bah!”

“The Manchus will be wiped out, the rebels exterminated, merchants who collude with the enemy stripped of their estates, and treasonous officials’ entire clans put to death!”

“One day, the Mongolian grasslands will be my pasture, and the four islands of Fusang my fishing ports!”

“Those who offend my Great Ming will be killed, no matter how far away they are. Those who don’t offend the Great Ming but refuse to submit will be killed too!”

“I will use every underhanded means necessary to forge a glorious heavenly realm, one that draws tribute from all corners of the world and welcomes envoys from every nation!”
