Lin Mo, descendant of a declining antiques dealer, breaks into his ancestral home's cellar to save his gravely ill grandfather. There, he accidentally awakens Yuanbao, the last treasure-seeking mouse, asleep for a thousand years, and activates the Treasure-Seeking System of All Things. This little fellow, with black fur and golden whiskers, can not only sniff out ancient coins buried underground, but also use “spirit sight” to expose fake artifacts. It can even devour spiritual energy to evolve. From a “lucky mouse” that helps Lin Mo pay the medical bills, it gradually becomes a “treasure-guarding mouse” protecting priceless relics.
A bully on the antiques street tries to steal Yuanbao, but is scared off by a late-Qing pistol model that Yuanbao leads him to find. A fake feng shui master puts on airs and fools people with a “warding bell” bought wholesale in Yiwu, but Yuanbao digs up his shopping receipt and spicy snack sticks, exposing him on the spot. Beneath the hospital lies a Warring States relic and a mouse-vein spirit core, where sinister energy is stirring. Yuanbao's bloodline power is the only key to suppressing it.
From Song-dynasty copper coins beneath a pickle jar to the coded runes on Sanxingdui's bronze sacred tree, Lin Mo and Yuanbao explore treasures together and meet an archaeology professor and a young heiress skilled in ancient martial arts, uncovering the ancestral oath of the “Treasure Guardians,” who protect priceless relics. But as the spirit core stirs and sinister forces draw near, the spirit-gathering pendant in the ancestral cellar becomes the key to turning the tide. The truth behind his father's disappearance also seems closely tied to Yuanbao's bloodline and the protection of these treasures.
There are heartwarming everyday moments with an adorable pet that wrecks the house and hides gold coins, hilarious scenes of fakes and fraudsters getting their comeuppance, and thrilling adventures through secret realms and across-species bonds. When the last treasure-seeking mouse meets a down-on-his-luck treasure guardian, a battle to protect priceless relics that will sweep through the city begins!
