War of Resistance Online: The Sniper God

A white flash filled the screen. When Shen Yue opened his eyes again, he was crouched behind a broken wall in Wanping Fortress, with a Japanese bayonet at his throat. He had only clicked the enter button for the “Eighth Route Army Rifleman” character in Anti-Japanese War Online, but he had truly transmigrated into the smoke-filled battlefield of 1937. “New here? If you can shoot, follow me into the tunnel!” The guerrilla Su Wan yanked him out of the way of a bombing run. Only then did Shen Yue realize that his in-game sniping skills had become a matter of life and death. From picking off enemies at Pingxingguan to sabotaging railways during the Hundred Regiments Offensive, he repeatedly took out Japanese heavy weapons with the trajectory calculations he had mastered in the game. Working with Su Wan to lay homemade mines, he destroyed enemy aircraft at Yangmingbao Airport. Even the Huangtuling ambush became a proving ground for his reputation as the “Sniper God.” The game's offline experience and promotion through military-soul ranks were gone. All that remained were life-and-death trials amid a hail of bullets. When Yoshiko Kawashima's agents surrounded the base area, and the Expeditionary Force in Lashio, Burma, needed support, Shen Yue was no longer a player controlling a character. He was a real soldier, guarding his homeland with his gun and fighting shoulder to shoulder with Su Wan. Only when the bugle sounded victory did he understand that this “game transmigration” had become a war of resistance etched into his very bones.
