The Extermination Chronicles: Hunting Transmigrators in the Hongwu Era
In the first year of Hongwu, Shen Yan, a history student, transmigrates into the role of one of Zhu Yuanzhang’s personal guards, only to discover that rifts in space and time have brought countless transmigrators to the early Ming dynasty. Armed with modern knowledge, they throw the age into turmoil: some work in secret to introduce new technologies, others infiltrate the imperial court to promote reforms, and still others collude with powerful nobles, hoping to overthrow the throne through the Four Great Cases of the Hongwu era.
To protect the foundations of the Ming dynasty, Shen Yan acts on Zhu Yuanzhang’s secret orders. Starting as a member of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, he goes on to establish a dedicated agency, the Transmigrator Extermination Bureau, and ruthlessly hunts down his own kind. In the Empty Seal Case, he uncovers a corruption network built by transmigrators using coded documents. During the Hu Weiyong Case, he wages a life-or-death struggle against the Political Alliance, which seeks to introduce a cabinet system. In the Guo Huan Case, he foils the Financial Alliance’s plot to manipulate the economy. And in the Lan Yu Case, he faces a rebellion by the Martial Alliance, which has mastered the art of improving firearms.
The transmigrators’ alliance never gives in. They band together to lay ambushes, pass secret messages, and even meddle in the succession struggle, engaging the Transmigrator Extermination Bureau in a desperate battle spanning north and south. When the flames of the Jingnan Campaign ignite, Shen Yan sees modern traces reappearing beneath the palace walls and finally understands that this hunt across time is nothing but an endless struggle within the torrent of history. Is he protecting the Hongwu Golden Age, or another future rewritten?
