Synopsis of The Romance of a Chaotic Age: The Three Realms United
When primordial chaos first gave rise to the world, humans, gods, and demons stood as three great powers. To stop the Flame Emperor's fire from being abused and burning the world, the Three Sages, Zuo Ci, Nanhua, and Yu Ji, developed the Art of Immortality and sealed it away. But the demons' greed sparked a century-long war. Afterward, the three races laid down their arms, and the Three Sages withdrew from the world to take disciples as immortals, guarding the Flame Emperor's seal and keeping the three realms at peace.
As the Han dynasty crumbled at the end of the Han era, Nanhua taught Zhang Jue, who launched the Yellow Turban Rebellion to save the people from suffering. The demons seized the chaos to kill Zhang Jue and conquer the Central Plains, while Cao Cao rose to become a dark overlord with their help. Humanity suffered a crushing defeat at Guandu, but the human and divine forces finally broke the demon army at Chibi. From then on, humans occupied Shu, the gods held Jiangdong, and the demons ruled the northern frontier, setting the stage for the Three Kingdoms.
Seeing no end to the chaos, Nanhua insisted on summoning the Flame Emperor, only to reverse the flow of time. Zhang Jue, Dong Zhuo, Lü Bu, and other heroes from the old era returned alongside the Flame Emperor, leaving the world on the brink of ruin. Repentant, the Three Sages created the Immortal Avatar Art, allowing immortals to control the heroes of the world and fight the crisis. They sealed the Flame Emperor once more, then established an alliance among the three realms and welcomed other worlds, creating a lasting order of peace. From then on, humans, gods, demons, and beings from other worlds lived and flourished together. The chaotic age became legend, and peace endured through the ages.
