The Echo of Genes: Planet Reboot

Gene Echoes: Planet Reboot

In 2197, the fifteenth year since humanity established a colony on the Earth-like planet Azure IV, a crisis known as “consciousness contamination” suddenly erupts. Patients are plagued by visions of the planet’s destruction 65 million years ago, and the clues point directly to the ruins of an ancient civilization at the planet’s core.

Lin Xia, a genetic engineer with the New Earth Alliance, discovers by chance that she carries a “double-helix memory gene” that can resonate with the consciousness of the “Planetary Guardian” within the ruins. Lu Chen, a technology leader of the Deep Core faction, is obsessed with the ruins’ “consciousness transfer” technology in hopes of saving his critically injured younger sister. The two factions are locked in a cold war over control of the technology. Then the ruins unexpectedly activate a “planetary reboot countdown.” Cutting-edge technologies such as surface-level genetic adaptation, underground cross-temporal communication, and halo quantum markers instantly turn from tools of civilization into shackles of survival.

Even more devastating, Kane, a senior Deep Core leader, is actually a vessel for an ancient consciousness that has parasitized humanity. He pushes his “consciousness uploading plan,” hoping to use humanity’s civilization to restore the ancient order and wipe out humankind. Lin Xia and Lu Chen are forced to join forces with military minister Ella and Xiao Xing, an orphan who can communicate with silicon-based plants. With 90 days left on the countdown, they battle mechanical armies and geological disasters while trying to overcome three dire predicaments: mutual annihilation, the loss of humanity, and unknown technology.

In the end, they reverse the crisis with a solution that balances genes, consciousness, and ecology, unite the factions, and establish the Technology Ethics Charter. Through cutting-edge technology and profound themes, they reveal the true meaning of civilization’s survival: the future lies in humanity making peace and coexisting with the planet and with itself.
