Song Dynasty Official

Zhang Zhi, a modern law student, transmigrates to Northern Song Kaifeng, where he becomes a low-ranking constable. Unwilling to sink into the ranks of the despised, he uses his era-defying forensic knowledge and belief in the rule of law to make a name for himself from humble beginnings.

From solving the mystery of the Ghost Market treasure theft, to exposing the smuggling network behind the corpses found floating beside a grain ship, and then unraveling the secrets of the poison murder in the Qianjin Hall’s locked room, he makes a name for himself in Bianjing with evidence as his spear and logic as his shield. He earns Bao Zheng’s admiration and an exceptional promotion, but is also drawn to the front lines of the struggle between the old and new factions.

See how Zhang Qing, a humble official, upholds due process and protects the law and justice, unleashing a reformist storm that sweeps through criminal justice, the economy, and the imperial court beneath the splendor of the Northern Song’s golden age.
