Football: They Told Me to Defend, but I Won the Ballon d'Or

Veteran soccer game player Lin Kai travels back in time to 2002 with a modified training System, becoming a Chinese-heritage player at Serie A club Fiorentina who is about to be released. With only one month from the start, he has to prove himself in the brutally difficult Serie A. Exploiting a System bug that lets one training session boost multiple stats, he comes up with unconventional shortcuts like tossing the ball up and heading it himself, or hiring people to stand still as he practices dribbling past them. He quickly goes from a defense-minded workhorse to an all-around midfielder who scores goals by the dozen. Everyone thinks he is only good for the dirty work, but in a crucial match, he saves the team with a thunderous long-range shot. Alongside the “War God” Gabriel Batistuta, he takes on the era of the “Little World Cup,” featuring Ronaldo, Christian Vieri, and Andriy Shevchenko. From the star of a relegation-threatened team, he rises step by step to become a Ballon d'Or winner who stuns the world, making up for the regrets of countless fans.
