The Water Inlet Pipe Rhapsody

Qin Xianfeng’s KPI is to build a flawlessly running virtual world. The homework his wife, Song Qiaoyao, has assigned him is to calculate how much water flows into their family’s “happiness pool.”

He’s a technical genius at a gaming company, and code is his scepter. To give a million players a stable world, he has no choice but to mark his son’s LEGO time and the parents’ family activities as “tasks that can be postponed.”

Then the System he designed begins ruthlessly optimizing away all the “noise” of human nature. Then he discovers that his son has used the LEGO bricks he considers “inefficient” to build a city more vibrant than anything his code could create.

When precise algorithms collide with the unsolvable mess of life, this “chief water-inflow engineer” finally starts writing a whole new program for his own life: allow bugs, embrace the unexpected, and find in his son’s doodles a balancing algorithm more elegant than any software.

This is a wild, celebratory song for everyone struggling to juggle 996 work schedules and the cost of baby formula. It’s about how, in a world pursuing the “optimal solution,” we can protect those seemingly “useless” but precious hours spent offline.
