The Midnight Diner Across from the Funeral Home

At midnight, the funeral home's last neon light goes dark.

Across the street, the warm yellow lanterns of the “Goodnight Canteen” have just lit up.

It doesn't serve revelers out for a good time. It offers shelter only to souls with nowhere else to go.

Between life and death, there's just one street.

Between despair and hope, there's just one meal.

Every night, someone wanders between despair and hope.

And here, there's always a light shining just for them.
