When he wakes up, Chen Mo, a history student who was terrible at his studies, has become a low-ranking soldier in the Hongwu era, on the verge of freezing to death at a frontier outpost along the Great Wall. In this desperate situation, he unexpectedly awakens the talent known as "Echoes of Time": by touching any ancient object, he can see its entire history!
A broken arrow lets him foresee a Mongol ambush, earning him a noble title after a single battle. A piece of city wall reveals the enemy's plot to him, allowing him to turn the tide.
When he is summoned to Yingtian Prefecture and stands before the suspicious, iron-fisted Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, a man who longs for the Great Ming to endure for ten thousand generations, Chen Mo knows his greatest opportunity and greatest crisis have arrived.
"Your Majesty, this imperial jade seal... it tells me that Prince of Yan Zhu Di will win the Jingnan Campaign thirty years from now."
"Your Majesty, Lan Yu will not rebel, but his future arrogance will leave you condemned by history for ages."
"Your Majesty, the Tumu Crisis will see an emperor humiliated, and at Coal Hill, a sovereign will hang himself in sorrow..."
A "prophet" who knows every detail of history, an enemy who is likewise reborn and understands the sweep of history, and an ultimate contest over the fate of the Great Ming: it all begins here. Every object Chen Mo touches rewrites history, and every revelation he shares is a gamble for lasting peace, both for the Great Ming and for himself!
I was short of books and found this book by accident. It is worth recommending.
The subject matter is novel. I just read a few chapters and I think they are good.
