Two battered souls meet in a downpour. From saving each other to building a home together, they write a story of resilience, love, and growth.
Lin Ye is a young woman who dropped out of school to work. Life has made her tough yet tender, and all she wants is to provide for her younger sister, Lin Yue. Jiang Mo, meanwhile, is a shy, self-conscious top student who is bullied so often it has become part of everyday life. He is as silent as withered grass. One rainy night, Lin Ye finds him being held down by a gang of thugs in a filthy puddle. She kicks over a trash can to scare them off, then hands her old umbrella to the boy huddled on the ground. She catches sight of an old burn scar on the back of his hand, and from that moment on, their fates are intertwined. Having learned self-defense to protect her sister, Lin Ye calls the police when Jiang Mo is beaten up again. The thugs attack her too, and one of them pulls a dirty trick and draws a knife. Jiang Mo finally snaps, knocking the attacker aside to protect her, but ends up with his arm covered in blood.
Lin Ye always wears two old leather-cord bracelets around her wrist. Later, she gives one to Jiang Mo. One night, he discovers “JM” carved into the inside of the cord, covering the original initials “LY.” Their feelings quietly take root. Jiang Mo works hard at his studies and helps Lin Ye look after her stall and her sister. The three of them cram into a rundown little house, facing loan sharks, a business scam, and a long-distance separation together. They build the “Clear Skies Handcrafts” studio, with Jiang Mo providing the technical support and Lin Yue bringing the energy. In the end, the bracelets are melted down into rings, a token hangs from an umbrella handle, and they take the same surname, becoming family in front of their friends and relatives. The downpour finally gives way to clear skies, and their scars become badges of honor.
Super sweet, with mutual salvation, two-way devotion, and personal growth. Lin Ye is rather awkward when it comes to feelings, because carrying the whole burden of life alone has become a habit. Oh, and Jiang Mo is a crybaby (∂ω∂), while Yueyue is an MVP gold-medal support (^ν^).
