Gray Alert

Gray Alert

They told us this was a glorious war.

Until I saw my best friend blown in half, still clutching a photo of his fiancée;

until I strangled that enemy boy with my own hands, and a toy just like my son's fell from his pocket;

until our company slaughtered an entire column of refugees to claim a filthy puddle of water.

Now I hide among the ruins, writing it all down in a bloodstained journal.

If anyone finds out, I'll be executed as a traitor.

But the truth must be preserved

we are the invaders.
