Lin Yuan, who runs an antique bookshop in Qingqiu Village, accidentally awakens a fragment of the Classic of Mountains and Seas left behind by his grandfather when strange beasts roar in the dead of night. From then on, he sets out to find his family and save the world. He rescues a clever Xingxing, triggering the shamanic sensitivity in his bloodline, then meets Su Mu, a girl descended from the Kunlun people. He learns that the black mist is the power of an unsealed demon god, and that his grandfather's disappearance is closely connected to fragments of the ancient Sky-Mending Stone. From breaking the Chiyu illusion in Yunmeng Marsh, to subduing Jingwei at Feather Mountain, and awakening Bai Ze and removing the demon god's bone spurs from Luwu in the Kunlun secret realm, Lin Yuan gradually awakens his ancient shamanic bloodline and gathers the Sky-Mending Stone fragments from Kunlun, the Great Wilderness, and the East Sea. Along the way, a Zhulong hatchling and Jiufeng join the group. With their mechanical arts, strange-beast powers, and shamanic incantations, the companions repeatedly repel hunters, tribes, and demon god guardians controlled by the black mist. When the Guixu rift appears and Mount Buzhou faces collapse, Lin Yuan rallies the allied forces of the guardians and fuses the five Sky-Mending Stones. Using the ultimate shamanic incantation, he seals the demon god and protects the world of the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
