A Poem of Two Moons and a Beast

Dazai and Chuuya × Akutagawa and Atsushi When two blood-red moons hang in the sky, ability users across Yokohama transform into rampaging beasts in the shadows. As signs of the apocalypse loom, the fates of four people intertwine in a tragic, heroic poem. The Port Mafia’s “Double Black,” Osamu Dazai and Chuuya Nakahara, have long since crossed the line between partners as they investigate side by side, day and night. Gun smoke and sunsets bear witness to their journey from bitter rivals to passionate lovers. Their deep, abiding love is the only light in Dazai’s dark world, and the softest part of Chuuya, hidden beneath his haughty exterior. Meanwhile, the “New Double Black,” Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Atsushi Nakajima, forge a bond unlike any other on the battlefield. From sworn enemies to the only companions who can understand one another, their feelings are tempered in blood and fire, awkward yet sincere. But the illusion of happiness is finally torn apart by a cruel truth. An ancient prophecy reveals that only a sacrifice to the divine power of Arahabaki can bring an end to everything. And the sacrifice must be Chuuya Nakahara. Faced with a death they cannot escape, Dazai breaks down for the first time. “So what if the world is destroyed? I only want you!” But Chuuya chooses the most resolute form of protection. On the night the two moons overlap, he looks back with a smile and vanishes in a blaze of light, taking Dazai’s frenzied screams and the world’s fate with him. The beasts’ lament comes to an end, and the survivors’ hearts turn to ashes. Dazai lives on as an eternal shadow, while Akutagawa and Atsushi carry the will of the dead and press on through the ruins.
