Defying Fate in Doraemon: I’m Going to Marry Shizuka

When Lin Yue, a real-world "Doraemon lore obsessive," transmigrates into the world of the manga with an "Anti-Plot Correction System," he sets out to break more than just the established script of "Nobita turning his life around with Doraemon's help." He also means to overturn the ironclad fate that "Shizuka is destined to marry Nobita." After transferring schools and moving in next door to Nobita, Lin Yue discovers that his System can pinpoint the "fate nodes" in the movies with precision. From taking care of Piisuke before Nobita in "Nobita's Dinosaur," cutting off Nobita's chance to "save the damsel in distress," to breaking the magical seal in "The Great Adventure into the Underworld" and becoming a "reliable protector" in Shizuka's eyes, every time he snatches away one of Nobita's crucial moments, he transfers more of Shizuka's affection and the world's fortune to himself. The "Original Plot System" behind Doraemon strikes back repeatedly: forcing out correction missions, using the Anywhere Door to reach crisis sites first, and even copying Lin Yue's improved gadgets. But Lin Yue always exploits loopholes revealed by his System's analysis. He ventures into enemy ships alongside Shizuka in "The Little Space War" and shields her from pursuers in "Nobita's Lunar Adventure," until Shizuka's confession, "I only feel safe when I'm with you," replaces her view of Nobita as "just an ordinary friend." As Nobita's fortune continues to drain away, he gradually returns to his old self: getting zeroes on tests and being bullied by Gian. Meanwhile, Lin Yue and Shizuka have already gone from studying together at the library to holding hands in the Cretaceous Period. At the final wedding, Shizuka smiles as she accepts the ring. The photo album Doraemon brings back from the future is filled with snapshots of the two of them standing side by side in movie after movie. This time, the script of fate is written by the one who defies it.
