The Rise of a Nobody in the Legal World

From a “spineless loser” bullied at the bottom of a law firm to “Big Mouse,” a name that struck fear into both the underworld and the legitimate world, Lin Yuan spent twenty years writing an astounding legend of ambition in the legal world. When he first entered the workforce, his timid nature made him an easy target for humiliation. Even during a community mediation session, one of the parties publicly berated him. Then an apparently ordinary dispute over a commercial contract unexpectedly exposed the tip of the iceberg of a transnational money-laundering operation. A crucial clue arrived in a mysterious email, allowing Lin Yuan to glimpse the darkness hidden beneath the facade of the law. As he pursued the truth, he faced threats and assaults, and even his family was dragged into the fray. With nowhere left to turn, he began to transform. First he struck back by exploiting loopholes in the law, then he built an intelligence network, and eventually he began manipulating the justice system from the shadows. Gradually, Lin Yuan lost himself in the vortex of power. He installed puppets in positions of authority and took control of the city’s lifelines, becoming the uncrowned king of the underworld through sheer force. Yet when he reached the pinnacle of power, he realized he had long since betrayed his original pursuit of justice. The blood of innocents shed during a critical operation finally jolted him awake. In the end, Lin Yuan chose to destroy with his own hands the vast empire he had built, finding redemption as he returned from crime lord to lawyer. This is a legal-world saga of desire and struggle, corruption and redemption, revealing the complexity of human nature and its struggle against the temptations of power.
