Echoes Behind the Palace Walls: The Discarded Maid Topples the Harem with Her Perfumes

Su Wanning, a top crisis-communications expert in the modern world, accidentally transmigrates into the body of a low-ranking palace maid in the Imperial Fragrance Bureau, where she is bullied at every turn. From the start, she is caught up in the poisoning murder of a noble and is about to be executed as the scapegoat. In this deep palace where human lives are worth less than grass, she casts aside her modern-day naivety and relies on her professional expertise in psychology, microexpressions, and media manipulation, along with her mastery of chemistry, which she puts to use in the art of perfumery and poison-making, to fight for survival against the odds.

She has no intention of following the old path of vying for the emperor's favor. Instead, she treats the entire harem as one giant “crisis-management project.” Through precise “client analysis,” identifying the needs and weaknesses of the emperor, empress dowager, and consorts; “event marketing,” creating or leveraging palace incidents to steer public opinion; “negative PR management,” exposing frame-ups and plots; and building a “united front” by joining forces with anyone she can use, she turns perfume into a blade and strategy into a shield. From a discarded maid who could be crushed at any moment, she rises step by step, stirs up a storm, and ultimately becomes the true power behind the harem, even influencing the court itself as she enters the ultimate battle of wits and emotions with a deeply calculating emperor. The highlight is that the heroine stays sharp throughout, using modern expertise to outclass her opponents in the ancient palace intrigue, with plenty of satisfying payback and a brisk pace.
