On the day of the Lin family’s eldest daughter Lin Wanqing’s wedding, her bridal sedan is seized in the street before it can reach the gates of the Shen residence.
As the whole city searches for her, she returns on her own, her clothes perfectly intact.
No one knows what happened during those three days. The only new thing around her neck is a silver lock pendant.
Young Master Shen, Shen Shichen, insists on breaking off the engagement: “A Lin family girl is no longer pure. The Shen family won’t accept her.”
That night, Lin Wanqing crushes a teacup and presses a shard against her heart.
“If the Shen family won’t let me come back alive... then I’ll die right now and make your entire family pay with me.”
The instant blood stains the silver lock, cannon fire suddenly thunders beyond the city walls...
The young lord of the governor’s residence, whose name is renowned across nine provinces, has personally led his troops to surround the entire city.
