The White-Robed General Unites the Central Plains: I Reincarnated as Chen Qingzhi

A 21st-century army officer unexpectedly transmigrates to the sixth year of the ordinary era of the Southern Liang dynasty, becoming Chen Qingzhi, who at the time is still a palace attendant in the Eastern Palace and has yet to command troops. Emperor Wu of Liang is in his twilight years, devoted to Buddhism and neglecting state affairs. The Northern Wei is weakened after the Rebellion of the Six Garrisons, with the Erzhu clan wielding power, Yuwen Tai lying low, and Gao Huan biding his time. The Central Plains are splintered into warring factions. Armed with his knowledge of the history of the Six Dynasties, he knows this is Southern Liang’s last chance to reclaim the Central Plains. He persuades Crown Prince Xiao Tong to form the White-Robed Army, first making his mark at Guoyang with an improved Crescent Formation, then escorting Yuan Hao north with seven thousand white-robed soldiers. He captures Xingyang and Luoyang, and stands against Erzhu Rong’s hundred thousand cavalry. Through coordinated tactics combining infantry and crossbow suppression, surprise cavalry attacks, and engineering-based siege warfare, he earns the title “War God in White.” Court intrigue never lets up: Zhu Yi frames him, Emperor Wu grows suspicious, and Yuan Hao turns against him. He avoids disaster by keeping a low profile, while using his military victories to consolidate his authority and preserve the White-Robed Army. On the battlefield, he advances step by step: in a second northern campaign, he sweeps through Shandong; at the Battle of the Hutuo River, he routs Erzhu Zhao; he marches west to Guanzhong and destroys Yuwen Tai; drives the Rouran north to secure the frontier; and moves east to conquer Qi and capture Gao Huan. With improved weapons such as triple-bow ballistae and repeating siege carts, along with precise strategy, he gradually recovers the Yellow River basin. When the Liang court is thrown into chaos and Zhu Yi plots rebellion, he leads the White-Robed Army south to stabilize the central government. Once the realm is at peace, he introduces an equal-field system and a unified military system, helping Xiao Gang unite the northern and southern aristocratic clans. From a white-robed officer returning to Liang on a frigid night to the Prince of Zhongshan governing Luoyang and serving the new emperor, he reshapes history through a lifetime of warfare. At last, the banner of “the realm united under Liang” flies across the Central Plains, laying the foundations for a century of prosperity and ensuring that the legend of “the White-Robed Army uniting the Central Plains” lives on forever.
