You Said We Were Bringing Warmth to the Community, So Why Am I Suppressing Evil Gods?

To rack up the community service hours required by his university, Chen Mo joins the neighborhood office’s “Sunset Years Mutual Aid Group.” The work is simple: deliver rice and cooking oil to elderly people living alone, help lost children find their mothers, and mediate disputes between neighbors. Then, on his first assignment, the group leader, Uncle Wang, hands him a rice cooker with a “Good Fortune” character stuck to it.

“Xiao Chen, Grandma Liu in Unit 301 of Building 7 says there are a lot of mice at home. Go take care of it.”

Chen Mo carries the rice cooker inside, only to discover that the so-called “mice” are a horde of indescribable beings that tear through space and whisper maddening knowledge! And the rice cooker in his hands turns out to be a “miniature gravitational singularity stabilization device”!

After successfully subduing them, he gets a notification on his volunteer app, “Community Connect”: [Deep One extermination mission complete. Community contribution: +100. Level One access unlocked. Redeemable item: “Public Safety Officer’s Riot Baton” (the Sacred Sword of Physics).]

Later, Chen Mo drives around the city in a Wuling Hongguang plastered with “Drain Unclogging” ads, hunting down rogue eldritch gods.

Overlord of Another World: “Human, why do you stand in the way of my arrival?”

Chen Mo rolls down the window and points to the slogan on the side of his van, his expression earnest. “Hello, we’re here to bring warmth to the neighborhood. Please open the door.”
