After Hanging Up My Armor, I Became the Support of a Fallen Princess

Xiao Bei guarded the frontier against demons for three hundred years, going from a young man with black hair to a white-haired elder, and from an unknown nobody to an impregnable barrier that even demons went out of their way to avoid. He was only mortal, yet with a single rusty sword and a body covered in scars, he held back countless demon incursions to the south. The imperial court forgot him, the people never knew of him, and all he remembered were the words “guard the frontier.” When his three hundred years of service were up, he laid down his armor and retired to the countryside. He hoped to spend his remaining years in peace in a small town in Jiangnan, but instead he came across a young woman covered in wounds. “Senior, I am Ji Yueyao, princess of the previous dynasty.” The girl knelt on the ground, clutching half of a broken imperial seal. “The demons have returned, and the corrupt court refuses to fight. I beg you to come out of retirement and save the world, and my country!” Xiao Bei looked at the light in her eyes and remembered the beacon fires on the frontier three hundred years ago. He touched the empty scabbard at his waist and said calmly, “You want to restore your kingdom? Then first, learn from me how to kill demons.” No one knew that this seemingly ordinary old man had once single-handedly slaughtered a hundred thousand demon vanguard troops. No one knew that when he laid down his armor, the demons on the frontier had all knelt before him, begging him not to leave. Now the corrupt court wanted him dead, and the returning demons wanted him gone. But Xiao Bei cared about only one thing: Protect Ji Yueyao, keep this world safe, and show those who had forgotten him just how formidable the “frontier barrier” could be!
