Short-Drama Script Overview: Once Upon a Time, There Was a Cultivation Academy
Lin Ye, a modern esports gamer, is accidentally reborn at Qingyun Sect's cultivation academy when his secondhand computer shocks him. He becomes a “perpetual repeater” who has failed to manifest a spiritual root for three years running. But thanks to his “modern soul cheat,” his spiritual root turns out to be a “miscellaneous root” compatible with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. He also acquires a “Crystal Ball System” that can detect spirit herbs, identify monster weaknesses, and disrupt dark arts, launching him on an absurd journey of “cultivation through technology.”
New to the sect, he uses a “Wi-Fi shield” to block fireballs, converts “spiritual energy into data” to watch TV dramas, and helps senior inner-sect disciple Su Qingyue fix a problem with updates to her serialized stories. He even tames Li Yuanbao, the city lord's son who once looked down on him. The three form the “Absurd Cultivation Squad.” Their peaceful cultivation life soon comes to an end: villages at the foot of the mountain are attacked by Crimson Flame Wolves controlled by evil spirits, the mountain-protecting formation inexplicably fails, and visiting inner-sect student Zhao Yan is hiding the fact that his master, Qian Kun, practices dark arts. A conspiracy targeting the seal on Qingyun Sect's secret realm and seeking to seize fragments of an ancient evil artifact gradually comes to light.
To protect the sect, Lin Ye disrupts dark arts with “signal interference,” locates rare medicinal ingredients with “spirit herb detection,” and fights high-rank monsters using “weakness analysis.” He leads his team through one crisis after another: first exposing Zhao Yan's scheme to steal spirit herbs while guarding them, then fighting rampaging monsters in the secret realm, and finally facing Qian Kun in a clash between good and evil at its inner reaches. By pushing the Crystal Ball to maximum power and combining the pure spiritual energy of all three, they successfully repair the seal and capture Qian Kun. Lin Ye also unexpectedly unlocks a new feature: “spiritual energy sharing.”
With the crisis over, Lin Ye is named the “Hero of Qingyun”...
