Cyborg Society: The Body and Resistance

The staff member took the document and scanned it with a terminal. His brow furrowed. “This isn't right. There's no record of it in the System. And your companion...” His gaze fell on Zhang Lan's arms, mottled with radiation spots. His tone turned icy. “Her skin's radiation level is over the limit. She's classified as a ‘genetically contaminated person’ and has no right to use an artificial womb!”

“What do you mean, genetically contaminated?” Zhang Lan suddenly grew agitated and stepped forward, her belly protruding. “I just want my child to live! What gives you the right to stop me?”

“What gives me the right?” The staff member scoffed and reached for the alarm button on the wall. “The fact that you're ‘genetic trash’ from the lowest tier! Artificial wombs are reserved for the privileged. They're meant to cultivate perfect offspring, not to waste resources on contaminants like you!”

The alarm blared through the corridor, and red warning lights began to flash. Su Rui knew they couldn't wait any longer. She immediately drew the stun gun from her waist and aimed it at the staff member's chest. “Don't come any closer! We only want to borrow the artificial womb. We'll leave as soon as the baby is born!”
