The Legendary Life of Mo Shenggu

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the land descended into chaos and warlords rose up everywhere. This is not an epic about conquering the realm, but a heartwarming tale of a "transmigrator" who holds fast to his principles amid the turmoil and protects the people of one region.

The protagonist, Mo Shenggu, follows a different path in life. He never becomes a martial arts alliance leader or competes for control of the Central Plains. Instead, he puts down roots in Jinan, Shandong, and begins a grand yet down-to-earth life with a security firm.

The secret to Mo Shenggu's legend is that he "defies convention." He opens grain shops and builds a merchants' guild so the people can eat their fill and stay warm. When faced with Chaghan Temur, a Yuan general wielding power over the imperial court, he doesn't meet force with force. Instead, he uses schemes to "turn an ambush against the ambushers" and "burn their provisions," even retreating strategically to build up his strength at a stronghold on Mount Tai. He's both a ruthless figure who makes his enemies tremble at his name and the "Commander Mo" who earns the neighbors' admiration.

There's no grinding levels or fighting monsters in this book, just vivid human relationships and worldly affairs. His steadfast love with Liu Ruobing, his brotherly bond with Zhu Chongba (the young Zhu Yuanzhang), and his impossible choice between repaying a debt of gratitude to Han Shantong and fulfilling his other obligations... all paint a different kind of wuxia story.
