Silent Accomplices

When I put on the earplugs, the “noise” from upstairs finally stopped.

Lin Wan, a 22-year-old illustrator with social anxiety, buys a pair of earplugs advertised as “completely silent” to escape the endless noise from her upstairs neighbor.

They work astonishingly well. The moment she puts them in, the world falls quiet.

At last, she can create in peace and enjoy her solitude.

But after several days of silence, unease begins to creep in.

Curious, she peers through a gap in the balcony with her phone camera, looking up at the balcony above

And sees the most terrifying sight of her life.

Even more horrifying, ever since that night, she has noticed inexplicable “traces” appearing in her life.

Those soundproof earplugs have blocked more than just noise… They seem to have opened a passage, and without realizing it, she has become an accomplice to some “entity.”

Now “it” considers Lin Wan its “ally,” and is making its way from upstairs toward her front door, step by step.
