Echoes of the Bone Butterfly

Echoes of the Bone Butterfly The rain in Linjiang City has not stopped for ten years. A bizarre murder breaks the city's silence: a wealthy businessman is found dead at home, with nothing left at the scene but a faded bone butterfly specimen. Its eerie arrangement bears a striking resemblance to the disappearance of a young girl that has haunted criminal investigation team captain Shen Yan for ten years. Back then, his inexperience as a rookie caused him to miss a crucial clue. The guilt became an obsession he could never shake. Lu Shiyan, a criminal psychology expert specially recruited by his superiors, joins the task force and becomes an “unknown variable” in Shen Yan's eyes. He wears thin-rimmed glasses and has a cool, detached air, yet his powers of observation are astonishing. Shen Yan is on guard, however: Lu Shiyan is not only the missing girl's cousin, but also returned from overseas with a private agenda. They clash over their approaches to the case until a second murder with the same signature forces them to work together. As the investigation deepens, secrets from their school days ten years ago and financial entanglements gradually come to light. Those connected to the case back then have now risen to positions of power. As the clues converge, Lu Shiyan uses psychological profiling to sketch the killer's profile, while Shen Yan draws on his investigative experience to uncover physical evidence. Their distance slowly fades as they learn to work together in perfect sync. The bone butterfly specimen is the killer's “signature,” but it was also the girl's favorite possession. When the clues point to a key figure, Lu Shiyan's memories of the past align with Shen Yan's old case files, and the truth from ten years ago is finally about to emerge. As they pursue justice, they go from suspicion and testing each other to complete trust, and ultimately become the light that guides each other.
