Three Years of Marriage, and He Never Came Home. Now I Want a Divorce, and He’s Beside Himself with Regret

[1970s setting + reunion after years apart + win her back + marriage first, love later + family life + fictional military marriage, reclaiming wasteland and farming] Qiao Zisu transmigrates into the body of a young woman with the same name in the 1970s. She has been married for three years.

She thought she could return to Shanghai and enjoy the comfortable nine-to-five life of a rich heiress, but instead she has to join the army and care for her officer husband as he recovers from a leg injury.

Army life is a chaotic mess, and what angers her most is that her husband has been secretly supporting a fallen comrade’s widow and children.

She demands a divorce, but the old political commissar puts a stop to it.

Qiao Zisu assumes this is how her life will be from now on. She answers the call to action by helping the army reclaim wasteland, build fields, and construct waterworks. She grows grain and vegetables to ease the military district’s food supply burden, earning a commendation from military district leader Bo Linzheng.

What surprises her most is that whenever she runs into trouble, he steps in and resolves everything with ease.

Only then does she suddenly remember that they had crossed paths years ago. She was a freshman then, and he had been invited to give a speech at Shanghai University, inspiring young people to enlist and serve their country. She interviewed him as a reporter for the campus newspaper.
