The Black Gold Conspiracy

The Black Gold Trap

Beijing launches a special campaign to clean up the coal industry in Beijiang Province. As investigators revisit the past, years of irregular practices gradually come to light.

Nie Huaiyu, once director of the Provincial Energy Bureau, now serves as a deputy director at a government agency. Over the years, his command of policy has helped him build a network of connections. Through nominee shareholding, fabricated transactions, and other schemes, he turned state-owned coal resources into tools for personal gain. As the investigation deepens, cracks begin to show in his covert operations.

Li Zhenggang of the provincial disciplinary authorities leads a special task force in the investigation. Starting with an anonymous letter, the team follows suspicious money flows, statements from people involved, and other leads. The investigation is fraught with challenges: key witnesses change their stories, crucial evidence goes missing, and information leaks occur time and again. Overcoming obstacle after obstacle, the task force verifies illegal mining, falsified credentials, and other violations, uncovering a case that reaches far and wide.

In this struggle between right and wrong, everyone makes a choice of their own. Some disciplinary officials withstand the pressure and stay true to their duties; informed individuals bravely step forward with leads; while Nie Huaiyu and others lose their way in the face of temptation and ultimately receive the punishment they deserve. After the campaign, the climate in Beijiang Province’s coal industry improves markedly, resource allocation becomes more orderly, and a favorable environment is created for the industry’s healthy development.
