Forced to Live in the Eastern Palace, I Won by Doing Nothing

Can you believe it? Jiang Miaoyan only wanted to be a carefree princess who could eat and sleep without a worry, but after northern tribes sought her hand in marriage, she was tossed into the Eastern Palace for “further refinement.” Her assigned tutor was none other than Crown Prince Xiao Ci, the famously “terrifyingly disciplined” workaholic who “considered pleasure a sin”!

As soon as she arrived, the crown prince glared at her for bringing a cricket jar. He caught her falling asleep in her Women’s Lessons class, and even sneaking a bite of pastry meant hiding from him. Jiang Miaoyan thought, Fine. I just have to pretend to behave and coast through the days. I can do that!

But the longer she kept up the act, the more she realized something was off about the crown prince. He would gently carry her to a couch after she stayed up late reviewing memorials. When palace servants gossiped about her, he would coldly drag them off to kneel as punishment. He even clumsily tried to make pastries, then insisted they were just for “testing the taste” after he burned them. And there was a little princess as her “fellow carefree slacker,” a steppe prince as her “snack buddy,” and even the daughter of a Hanlin scholar covering for her: “The princess knows how to enjoy life. She isn’t lazy!”

Then, in front of the entire court, the crown prince petitioned the emperor: “I ask Your Majesty to approve the cancellation of the political marriage and allow me to marry Princess Anle as my crown princess.” Jiang Miaoyan was chewing on the sweet cake the crown prince had just bought her when it suddenly hit her: So I wasn’t sent to the Eastern Palace to be reformed. I was sent here to win the crown prince without lifting a finger?!
