The Demon Lord Retires and Becomes a Security Guard

The former Demon Venerable Li Qianchen was surrounded by the immortal sects. He blew up his cultivation base, taking them all down with him.

When he opened his eyes again, he had become Lu Chen, a modern-day office worker who had just been laid off and denied his wages.

To make rent, he swallows his pride and applies for a security job at a residential complex, only to discover that the property manager is cheating the residents and colluding with the criminal underworld.

Li Qianchen sneers. “When I slaughtered cities, your ancestors hadn’t even been born.”

He secretly puts what remains of his demonic cultivation to work: first giving the manager nightmares night after night, then making the gang boss dance Swan Lake in public.

Just as he thinks he can peacefully slack off and cultivate, his old nemesis from the immortal world is reincarnated as a local police officer and keeps showing up to check his temporary residence permit!

And to top it all off, the head of the residential complex’s owners’ committee is the guardian divine beast he once personally suppressed. Now it’s constantly filing complaints about his failure to sort the trash...

Li Qianchen rubs his temples. “I just want some peace and quiet while paying off my mortgage. Why is that so hard?”

His consciousness first sank into a searing void, the unbearable agony of his soul being torn apart and his core igniting. Li Qianchen remembered the last thing he saw: the blinding radiance of the Great Immortal Formation and his decisive self-destruction. He had dragged his hypocritical master and the so-called righteous sects of the entire cultivation world down with him into annihilation. His soul scattered to the winds; that should have been the end.

But when he opened his eyes again, he was jolted awake by a sharp electronic ringtone.

His head throbbed as if it had been repeatedly struck with a blunt object. His entire body was sore and weak, overcome by an indescribable exhaustion, even worse than when he had first begun body cultivation. Fragments of unfamiliar memories surged in, crowding out what remained of his soul.

Lu Chen. Twenty-six years old. Graduated from an ordinary second-tier university.
