Detective in a Jam

In New Arc Light City, a cyberpunk metropolis shrouded in neon and drizzle, technology is the only truth and data is the supreme god. Ling Su was once a star detective. Now he is just a private investigator scraping by in the city’s shadowy corners with the help of a high-tech cybernetic eye. He believes everything can be explained by logic, until he takes on a bizarre disappearance case.

A sealed room, an engineer who vanishes into thin air, and a strange symbol on the wall that no device can scan drag him into a vortex woven from cold data and ancient spirits.

When all the technology he relies on fails, he is forced to work with Ye Tong, a mysterious young “medium” whom society regards as an outcast. One is a believer in logic, the other a messenger of intuition. Together, they will uncover the horrifying truth beneath the city’s glittering facade: the megacorporation Genesis Tech is trying to tear open the veil between reality and the “spirit world” to satisfy its ambition to control everything.

As the city’s servers begin to mutter in their sleep and ghosts emerge from data, Ling Su must make a final choice amid the ruins of his collapsing worldview: cling to cold logic, or trust the eyes that can see souls? This is a clash between technology and the supernatural, and a quest for personal redemption.
