The Path of Spirit Devouring: Turns Out I’m an Immortal
Deliveryman Lin Mo is at his breaking point. Late deliveries and bad reviews are piling up, his heartless boss is docking his pay, rain pours into his attic room so badly you could raise fish there, and his pockets are emptier than his stomach. One day, his phone forcibly installs a busted game called The Path of Spirit Devouring. Before he can even curse it out, he becomes an “immortal” in the eyes of a little girl named Su Qingyuan in the game.
Su Qingyuan is treated like dirt in the outer sect of the Qingxuan Sect. Her spirit herbs get stolen, she’s ostracized, and her parents died under mysterious circumstances. Lin Mo originally wants to uninstall the game, but then he discovers that when he casually curses, “Damn it,” his words become glittering “immortal speech” in the game, and can actually help Su Qingyuan beat people up. Even more bizarre, the lousy cultivation technique Su Qingyuan practices improves Lin Mo’s stamina in real life, letting him deliver food faster than an electric scooter.
To get Su Qingyuan to provide him with some “feedback,” Lin Mo has no choice but to grit his teeth and spend money. A lousy talisman that costs 1,000 yuan can actually ward off ghosts in the real world! When Old Zhou’s antique shop is haunted by a starving ghost, Lin Mo steels himself and goes in. To his surprise, he makes 2,000 yuan, kicking off a vicious cycle: spend money to help the immortal, earn money exorcising ghosts, then spend more money.
With Lin Mo’s “immortal guidance,” Su Qingyuan makes one comeback after another, rising from the bottom of the outer sect to the inner sect. But she draws the attention of the sect’s scheming Elder Zhao and a madman from the Blood Sword Sect, who claims the broken jade pendant she carries is a treasure. Lin Mo has plenty going on too: a fox demon at a gold shop, an earthbound spirit in an apartment building. Every penny he earns goes into the game to buy talismans and cultivation techniques for Su Qingyuan, while he lives on instant noodles.
Then Su Qingyuan discovers that Elder Zhao and the Blood Sword Sect conspired to kill her parents, and that they were also involved in something called the “boundary
