The Dragon's Roar Across the Nine Heavens: Lin Feng's Rise

Nine Heavens Dragon’s Roar, Chapter One: The Awakening of a Good-for-Nothing

The cold wind cut like a knife through Lin Feng’s thin clothes. He huddled in a corner of the servants’ quarters on the back mountain of the Lin family estate, his fingers trembling beneath a threadbare quilt. It wasn’t the cold that made him shake, but the humiliation he had just suffered in the Lin family ancestral hall.

“Lin Feng, you good-for-nothing! You can’t even reach the first level of Qi Refining, yet you still dream of inheriting the Lin family bloodline?” The voice of Lin Zhen Tian, the Lin family’s Grand Elder, echoed through the hall, thick with undisguised contempt. “From this day on, you are no longer a Lin family disciple. You’re fit only to serve the Lin family!”

Lin Feng didn’t look up. He only lowered his head further. He could feel the eyes of the clan members around him: some pitying, some mocking, and most simply disdainful. He knew how weak he was, weaker even than the lowest-ranking servant in the Lin family.

“Lin Feng, if you want to stay with the Lin family, go gather herbs on the back mountain. Bring back a hundred stalks of ‘Azure Spirit Grass’ within three days, or get out of the Lin family!” Lin Zhen Tian’s voice rang out again. “But you’re a good-for-nothing. I doubt you can even gather a hundred stalks of Azure Spirit Grass.”
