Hell's Assassin

I died.

The moment I was hit by the car, that was what I thought.

And now, I’m in a pure white space.

“So this is it, right? I’m going to be reincarnated in another world?”

As a modern person, I’ve done my homework: I’ve read plenty of web novels. Next, a god should appear and say my death was a workplace mistake or something, then grant me an overpowered ability as an apology. After that, I’d start a harem adventure as an invincible hero. Right?

I was happily imagining all this.

“That’s not how it works.”

Suddenly, a being that looked like a god appeared before me. I wasn’t even sure if I could call it a person. In any case, it promptly shot down my fantasies.

“Well, there was a mistake. After death, you were supposed to enter the cycle of reincarnation, but somehow you ended up in the divine realm.”

So I was already here before I realized what was happening? I don’t get it either.

“Never mind. Since this is an unusual situation, tell me your wish. I can’t send you to another world, and I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to grant it. But if it’s a reasonable wish, I can fulfill it before sending you into the cycle of reincarnation.”

You can’t just spring a question like that on me...

I’d already gotten myself into the whole “reincarnated in another world” mindset. And now, all of a sudden, it was asking me what I wanted...

“Make me a man who can earn ten billion.”

I said it on a whim, half giving up. I figured earning ten billion had to be pretty impressive, so I blurted it out, sounding a little foolish.

“As you wish.”

“Huh?”

Then I was surrounded by light.

A ranch in Inner Mongolia, China.

At that very moment, everyone was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new life.

“Oh! It’s born!!”
