A Startling Glimpse: Reborn as a Consort

Lin Wei, a modern, independent woman, awakens after an accident to find she has become Chu Jinghong, a frail, timid concubine-born daughter of the Duke of Anguo's household in the Great Sheng Dynasty. Before she can make sense of her life turned upside down, an imperial decree summoning her to the palace plunges her into a deep, perilous whirlpool. Behind the vermilion palace walls, danger lurks everywhere. There are consorts with daggers hidden behind their smiles, an empress whose thoughts are impossible to read, and a dowager empress content to watch from the sidelines... as well as the young emperor Xiao Che, seated high upon the throne, cold and inscrutable. At first, all she wants is to survive in this place that devours people. But conspiracies close in at every turn, dragging her into one deadly contest after another. The soul from the modern world refuses to meet her death without a fight. With wisdom as her blade and human nature as her shield, she carefully survives from humble beginnings and quietly blossoms in the face of adversity. An unexpected spark of modern thinking catches like wildfire, drawing the attention of the aloof emperor. Curiosity becomes investigation, and indulgence becomes deep love. Behind her exclusive favor in the imperial chambers, two lonely souls gradually draw closer, even as power struggles intertwine the court and the harem. When her favor surpasses that of every other consort and hidden attacks turn into open ones, she can no longer stay out of the fray. Watch as a modern soul navigates the ancient palace, discerning the loyal from the treacherous, unraveling mysteries, and winning the emperor's heart amid one perilous turn after another, before taking the world by storm and writing a legendary tale of a beloved imperial consort all her own.
