Beyond the Mountains and Seas: Qing Ci Meets the Wind

- Anran (identity after transmigrating: Shen Qingci): A recent college graduate and fan of the drama Fated to the Sea of Mountains. She becomes obsessed with the villain Liu Suifeng’s looks and tragic ending, then accidentally transmigrates into the world of the show. After transmigrating, she inherits two golden fingers: Li Xiangyi’s peak inner power and martial arts from Mysterious Lotus Casebook, including fierce sword techniques and exceptional lightness skills, as well as Gong Yuanzheng’s complete medical and poison-making expertise from My Journey to You, enabling her to craft poisons and save lives while mastering the body’s acupuncture points and toxicology. She travels under the guise of a “wandering doctor,” but her real goal is to get close to Liu Suifeng and change his fate.

- Liu Suifeng: The villain in the original drama Fated to the Sea of Mountains. Born into a declining noble family, he harbors a grudge after the imperial court falsely accused his family and wiped them out. He manipulates events from the shadows, stirring up turmoil in both the martial world and the imperial court. His methods are ruthless, but he has his limits. In the original story, the protagonists eventually corner him, and he dies on the battlefield, still consumed by unfinished thoughts of revenge.

2. Core relationship: Two male leads in a love-hate relationship. Shen Qingci (Anran) approaches Liu Suifeng with the goal of “changing his fate.” At first, she repeatedly interferes with his plans using her medical and poison-making skills and martial arts. They go from testing and distrusting one another to gradually glimpsing each other’s hidden vulnerabilities and obsessions. As revenge and redemption pull them in opposite directions, complicated feelings take root. Each wants to change the other’s fate, yet they are drawn to the other’s personality and convictions, creating an intense push and pull between “killing and protecting” and “leaving and staying close.”

This is a story with two male leads. If that’s not your thing, please don’t read.

This book is based on a TV drama, but a lot of it is original. If you don’t like that, could you please skip it?
