Xiangxi Butterfly Gu: The Saintess, the Outsider, and a Thousand-Year Curse

Deep in western Hunan lies Luoyin Village, an ancient Miao settlement that safeguards the secret of the Butterfly Gu, a power protected for a thousand years. Only the clan’s Holy Maiden can awaken the Butterfly Gu with her bloodline and fend off the eerie miasma lurking in the mountains. But this secret leaves the Holy Maiden burdened with a curse that brings misfortune to those she loves. Shen Yan, an outsider researching folk customs, enters Luoyin Village to investigate the Miao borderland notes left by his grandfather. There, he accidentally disrupts A Jin’s Heart-Sealing Rite, and the two are forced together by a sudden outbreak of miasma. As Shen Yan tries to unravel the mystery of the Butterfly Gu and the miasma described in the notes, he discovers that A Jin’s fate has long been entwined with the secret: she is both the villagers’ hope and a prisoner bound by a curse.
