But I wanted to build a complete world, so a short story grew into this much longer one~

Su Rao, a noblewoman of divine descent, fell in love with Ling Yunxiao, a talented scholar from a humble family. Trusting him completely, she revealed where her family's treasure, the Heart of Divine Descent, was hidden. Ling Yunxiao joined forces with the imperial court and slaughtered the entire Su family on the grounds that they threatened imperial authority. He seized the Heart of Divine Descent, personally crippled Su Rao's cultivation, and abandoned her in a mass grave. At death's door, her intense hatred and will to survive triggered a transformation. She did not die. Instead, she became a beguiling spirit who could survive only by absorbing yang energy. She struggled in agony, and after unconsciously draining the yang energy from her first pursuer, she was both terrified and filled with hope for revenge.

While fleeing her pursuers, Su Rao ran into Mo Xuan, a cold-faced demon hunter on a mission. By instinct, Mo Xuan tried to kill the “harmful” beguiling spirit. During their clash, Su Rao discovered that Mo Xuan's yang energy was exceptionally pure and powerful, and that she could control how much she absorbed without harming him at his core.

A bold idea took shape: perhaps he was the key to surviving without taking lives.

She began deliberately approaching and teasing him.
