A Heartbeat, His Exclusive Devotion

On the first day of school, Lin Xingchen stumbled into Gu Yebai’s line of sight in the most embarrassing way possible. She knocked him to the ground with her suitcase, and her pink teddy bear rolled to a stop at his feet. He was the aloof senior everyone thought was beyond reach, the dazzling student representative at the opening ceremony, and a campus legend from a prominent family. She was just an ordinary, slightly scatterbrained freshman.

She thought that awkward encounter would be their only one, but fate seemed to have other plans. When a dispute over seats at the library broke out, he came to her rescue with, “She got here first.” When a sudden downpour caught her outside the classroom building, he shoved his umbrella into her hands without hesitation and walked straight into the rain. In economics class, when she was at her most flustered, he quietly fed her a hint and helped her out of a tight spot...

Their seemingly chance encounters, and the subtle ways he stepped in to help and draw closer, made it impossible for Lin Xingchen’s heart to stay calm. How would she return the umbrella? How would they quiet the buzz on the campus forum? And what lay behind the tenderness he sometimes let slip?

Meanwhile, Chen Mo, the kind and considerate head of the art club, was beginning to fall for her too... But as their paths crossed again and again, the exclusive tenderness Gu Yebai had kept hidden in his heart slowly blossomed for her alone.
