The City’s Greatest Playwright

Lin Zhou has just been fired, and his life has hit rock bottom. Then, by chance, he gets bound to a bizarre System called “Life Is a Stage.”

The System doesn’t make him fight monsters or level up. Its only task is to make him cause dramatic incidents in public, otherwise known as stirring up trouble.

The rewards are all over the place, from “Master-Level Combat Skills” to “The Ability to Spot Lies at a Glance,” and even mysterious items that can turn stone into gold.

The penalties for failing are just as bizarre, including but not limited to “having your pants fall down in public,” “speaking with an auto-tuned voice,” and “randomly having scrolling comments appear above your head”...

For the generous rewards and to avoid dying of embarrassment, Lin Zhou, a couch potato who had planned to lie flat, is forced down the path of becoming a hammy actor.

He awkwardly dances in a mall atrium, flips the table during a business negotiation, and plays a madman at a press conference in front of a huge crowd...

He thought it was just a prank System designed to make a fool of him, but gradually realizes that every stage for his “performances” conceals mysterious clues leading to the hidden side of the world. Financial tycoons, secret organizations, visitors from other realms... The audience for the dramas he directs is far from limited to ordinary people.

As the line between reality and illusion grows blurry, Lin Zhou finally understands:

To become the protagonist of your own life, you first have to be a competent actor.

“That System... Could you make the next task a little less embarrassing?”

[Ding! New task issued: At tomorrow morning’s financial summit, snatch the richest man’s microphone and sing “Two Tigers” with deep feeling.]

Lin Zhou: “...”
