The Taoist Temple Is About to Collapse: A Ferryman in the Age of Declining Dharma

Xuan Zifeng is the last heir of Yuntai Temple. Born with Yin-Yang Eyes, he can see qi and spirits, and has mastered the arts of the mystic school. Seven days ago, his master, Daoist Xuanqing, who raised him and taught him everything he knew, passed away suddenly. All he left behind was a dilapidated thousand-year-old temple facing demolition, along with a long-buried tale of the Daoist predecessors who burned down their temple and descended the mountain to resist the Japanese and save their country. To preserve his sect’s legacy and save up for repairs, Xuan Zifeng, who owns next to nothing, has no choice but to descend the mountain and enter the bustling mortal world. Education? None! Skills? Does catching ghosts count? In the end, he finds a job as a security guard at a crematorium down the mountain. That’s when things start going off the rails. While others slack off at work, he “feels up” ghosts; while others grab dinner after work, he sends spirits on their way. Dealing with the lingering regrets of all kinds of eccentric dead people and handling one supernatural incident after another become part of his daily routine. He complains about being broke, “Grandmaster, are the bricks edged with gold or something?”, while painstakingly saving up for temple repairs with authentic Daoist arts. But just as he finally scrapes together enough money and prepares to get started, he discovers that the tide of the times and shadows lurking in the dark are quietly drawing near. A special government agency comes knocking, ancient seals begin to weaken, and a deeper secret seems to lie behind the heroic sacrifices of the past... Watch as this easygoing yet sincere young Taoist uses his Yin-Yang Eyes and mystic arts in the declining age of the twenty-first century, making a comical living while protecting his temple, carrying on the legacy of the fallen, lifting the layers of mystery, and restoring the light of the mystic school!
