Demon Slayer: Can a Monster Become a Hashira?

I got dragged off to work, and I can't squeeze out a single word, so I'm going to hide this, babies. [Family and friendship focused, no romance, no breaking up canon couples. I write whatever comes to mind, a very OOC beginner's story. I write a little when I have time. Basically, it's “self-indulgent OC fun” (IMPORTANT!!!!)] Ayase Suika was once a very happy little yokai. Not long after she was born, someone found her and took her home, where they cared for her tenderly. They taught her to read and write, and what was right and wrong. She had once dreamed of the happy family of four they would have after the baby was born. But on the day she went into labor, a monster suddenly broke in. She grabbed a hatchet and fought with all her might, but it tore off her limbs and left her discarded nearby. The last words she heard before losing consciousness on the verge of death were, “Run.” She was born from the many folk songs and ballads of the mountains and wilderness, a yokai who lived within those songs and fed on memories. But she had never eaten a single memory since her birth, and was weak. She couldn't even protect her family. The laws of Heaven generously grant yokai long lives, yet are stingy with their gifts. Worse still, they cursed the yokai for failing to fulfill their mission. After her elder brother died, she set out alone to fulfill her mission. Some, grateful for her help, recorded her legacy. Some looked down on her abilities, asking what a child could possibly do. Others coveted her longevity and wanted to peel off her skin, tear out her bones, and devour her... But far more people fell along the road before she could reach them. The demons grew more numerous, and the few memories she had left were almost completely sealed away. Exhausted, Ayase returned to her old home, wrapped herself in that haori, and fell into a deep sleep. “My name is Ayase Suika.” “Will you give me your memories?”
