From awakening the fragmentary scroll of the nine-tailed fox in the Peach Blossom Grove of Qingqiu to defending the core of the Final Vein in the Hall of the Veinheart, Lin Xiaoman and her companions, Zhao Xiaoyan and Su Xiaoyu, use fragmentary scrolls as keys, soul-paintings as guides, and divine beasts as allies. In the fantastical world of the Classic of Mountains and Seas, they uncover the secrets of the Erosion Marks and mend the ley lines. Amid overlapping mirrors where reality and illusion intertwine, they stand against the Erosion Lord’s power of Chaos and protect the natural heartbeat of a civilization that has endured in the Great Wilderness for millions of years.
The Erosion Lord’s remaining core lies dormant beneath the Final Vein’s heart in the Hall of the Veinheart. Red, threadlike tendrils devour the energy of the five ley lines. If they seize control of the core completely, every ley network in the Great Wilderness will be severed. The fire vein of the Bi Fang, the water vein of the Yinglong, and the wood vein of the nine-tailed fox will all become ruins consumed by Chaos, and the divine beast clans will face annihilation.
To resonate the five veins, the tokens of wood, water, time, quicksand, and the frozen wastes must all be activated at once. But the black strands in the Erosion Mist steadily drain the tokens’ energy, while the Bi Fang’s fire feathers and the Yinglong’s water screen are weakened one after another by the core’s counterattack. Xiaoman and the others must not only fend off the deadly threat of the tendrils wrapping around them, but also achieve resonance before the light band around the Final Vein’s core fades. The slightest mistake could spell catastrophe for the entire Great Wilderness.
After the Final Vein Pearl stabilizes the ley lines of the Great Wilderness, unknown “otherworldly ley patterns” appear on the stone walls of the Hall of the Veinheart. Are they traces of a higher-dimensional civilization, or a new threat of Chaos? Could the “otherworldly divine beasts” absent from the Classic of Mountains and Seas be hiding at the edge of the Great Wilderness? And what unknown ley lines and adventures does the unfamiliar light that occasionally flashes from the Final Vein Pearl in Xiaoman’s hand foretell?
